Dumpster find, Tube amps, unknown??

Postby hilldweller » Sun Oct 13, 2013 7:35 am

I recently found two of these set out for the trash. Appears to be some kind of tube amp. Further investigation shows this to be a two channel amp. One channel for bass and one channel for treble.
This has a power transformer, two output transformers, two chokes, and some type of open frame transformer.
Tube compliment:
1ea 6SC7
2ea 6SN7
2ea 5U4G
2ea 6SJ7
8ea 6V6GT
Could this be a viable biamp project?

Controls:
1 = Bass 0-3-6-10
1 = Off, Low, Med, High

Output terminal:
treble - ground - bass

Looks like an organ amp of some sort.

If so, they are usually of decent fidelity.

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

I'd almost bet $$ they are Hammonds.

Doesn't look like Hammond iron though (???)

No flat resistors, so Lowrey is out too.

Dunno what it is?

You are right Gregg. I did not notice the funky power transformer. I have no idea. Definitely not Allen.

It's old school Hammond. Look up Hammond 6V6 on eBay. You will find this amp.

There's an AO- part number visible on the choke on the underside, in case there was any question remaining that this is Hammond (before I saw that I would have guessed Baldwin). Nice find!
