Can't found a specifi value choke filter for 1626 PP Amp

Postby wf1318 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:52 am

Hello everyone!

I found a 1626 push pull schematic from this website: http://www.e-kasuga.net/amp_pdf1/1626-PP.pdf

And I really want to build this amp by myself.

According to the circuit, it need to use a Choke Filter @ 2.7H 0.1A.

However, I can't find a choke @ 2.7H 0.1A on many online tube amp store....

Therefore can I use other choke value is close to the above one like "3H 0.1A" , "2.6H 0.3A" to replace it?

Or other suggestion?

Thank you!!!

Any choke from 1.5 HY to 6 hy will work for that circuit , this dynaco replacement choke would work fine http://www.triodeelectronics.com/c354.html

If you state where you live we could give you more precise info what to look for and where to buy.
You have several places in Europe and Asia that can give you ... sell you what you need.

In worst case you can go for a resistor of maybe 100 ... 220 Ohm.

Since that is a push-pull amp, you can put almost anything in there. You'll have phase cancellation of the 120Hz from the power supply, so the 1.5H Dynaco choke will work great. You can also use the Hammond 1H and the Triad 1H (or even a resistor as Magnus says). The key is keeping the B+ to the stated level, and you can add a resistor series with the small choke to lower the B+ if needed. The 1626s don't like to more than 5W dissipation for a fact.

I've been looking for a good 1626 PP circuit, this one looks decent! I like the use of all ST-type tubes in order to keep that classic vintage look.

I had worked out a design using a triple triode compactron and two 1626s, but then that just wouldn't have been quite "right" :/ O:) ;) (lol)

Thanks a lot for the people who gave me suggestions on this topic first.
I had 2 experiences on DIY 1626 amp before, one in single end type and one in parallel type.
Infact I don't know any calculation on electronics parts on tube amp,
I'm just simply copy and follow the whole circle form other DIY buliders and then to build my own.
And I use very cheap and normal electronics parts to build the above two 1626 amp.
They work fine but not enough power and sometime the sound is clipping.....
Therefore I want to build this 1626 PP Amp to see what different with my old 1626 amps.
Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions, it is very helpful to me!

I also have been looking for a 1626 PP Amp for a long long time on the internet.
And finally I found it on a japanese website.
Actually this circuit is come from a very very famous japanese Audio magazine called "ラジオ技術" (it's mean "Radio Technology") issued on 2008 July.
And you can go to this website to see other Tube Amp Circuit Design from this famous magazine: http://www.e-kasuga.net/nagashima.asp

Thanks!
