Antek and Par-Metal up in smoke

Postby Brik » Mon Jan 28, 2013 5:49 pm

It appears that the elecronics chassis maker Par-Metal and their neighbor toroidal transformer maker Antek had a major fire last week: Sparks (no relation to Shannon) blamed in 4-alarm fire at North Arlington metal shop

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
But they let a fair amount of Magic Smoke to escape. =:o

I wish Par-Metal and Antek the best of luck and swift return back to normalcy.

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

I was wondering why everything was out of stock. My plan for a HF-89 clone will have to wait now as I was going to use the Antek 4TK400 power trans and a 1U rackmount enclosure for the chassis.

I hope the best for these folks, they are really nice to deal with!

I was just there looking for a couple 100VA TTs - one to fix Maggie EL84PP and one to experiment with - Dang! Hope they can recover without too much stress. =:o

Update:

I happened to be in the North East corner of New Jersey yesterday, and decided to pay a visit to Antek/Par-Metal in North Arlington, N.J.,
just a few miles South West of the Meadowlands Sports Complex.

The warehouse buildings that housed Antek/Par-Metal are completely gone, and the site became a parking lot. :'(

I know Antek is still operating since I ordered and received some of the "fire sale" transformers back in March.
(Thanks, kheper!)

So, they must have moved their place of business...

I wish them well, and I hope they restock their products quickly.

Oh darn, If I were a thinking man, I would have checked that! p[ $)

On the second thought, my wife would not have let me back into the car had I done so. (n)
