OK - update!

I got nowhere with my web host provider. Maybe twenty emails, chats and phone calls with great detail regarding the issue received the infuriating response "Went to http://www.diytube.com and it loads. Ticket closed." Argh. Finally got to 'Tier 3' whom I couldn't contact directly and I received the same response. Obviously I will be shopping for a new web host and appreciate any advice.

After that I took the proactive approach, and I hope this works. I moved the database to a MySQL5 server (newer MySQL and different server). Hoping the connections issue isn't the same, so let me know. Also, let me know if you have any bugs with the forums. I think I have it 98% there. Lots of snafus I won't go into here, other than with my new web host I need phpMyAdmin to be able to handle multiple databases.

Thanks for the patience, folks. Refresh the website. And (crosses fingers) I hope things are working better and look forward to your feedback. Post any error messages here.

No doubt! Since I live in Champaign-Urbana - birthplace of HAL9000 and Mosaic - I'm going to see if I can get a local host, run by nerds that love their servers and not a soulless, unreachable entity. :[

Was the site server down today (Jan 21st) , I was getting a "500" "internal server error" during a few login attempts during the early evening. (???)

Everything seems to be running correctly, now.

Someone emailed me last week with the '500' error and I've seen it once, so you're not alone, Ed. I plan a move to greener pastures this spring. @=

I have received the "500" error with IE then immediatly tried with Firefox or Chrome and all was ok so I assumed it was IE specific.

I've not gotten any more error messages since I posted last back in December. There was one time a few days ago the board was inaccessible for a minute, but that's it. I check the board quite a few times each day.

It's behaving itself tonight so far :))

Well, we know it's not the forum software, it's well proven, as is Shannon's database administration abilities.... it's the webhost.

Cheers!

last few days, I've had to re-login daily and manually search for new threads. Though topic indicators show new posts, the "View New Posts" or active topics returns blank :(
