I've been getting this from time to time, since the upgrade.

Maybe the Bing and Google Bots are using too much of a resource limit?

I was also getting this last night... Sometimes, it seems apparent that the terms "software" and "upgrade" are mutually exclusive :/ ;) (lol)

My apologies, folks. I believe it is increased bot traffic and just saw it for the first time Christmas Eve. I think I have some tools to limit their access to fix this or I'll just ask the web host provider to up my limit.

Just 'deactivated' all bots but the Google creepy crawlies. Hopefully it was Bing getting a little exuberant with all the unused servers over the holidays.

Still getting this "General Error" message, but at least it isn't a persistent and long lasting now. Just another google-bot "demon" haunting the internet... (666) ;) (lol)

Bing and Yandex are HUGE multi-crawling offenders (stop)

Edit: From what I'm reading about MySQL it seems this problem is due to a settings problem. Default connections should be 0. (unlimited)

Good luck, Shannon.

Eeeeeeeeeee!

Doing that on a shared server can bring down the whole thing and every website on it =:o
(I found out the hard way and my webhost sure let me know it! :$ )

Yesterday morning while perusing through the SQL server stats, I discovered that the up time for the server corresponded with the origin of the problem. So they started a new SQL server over the holiday and it seems '50' is the default value for that variable. I've sent several emails to the web host, but I have yet to crack through to Tier II support. The Tier I guys don't understand the issue. I've suggested 500 or 1000 as a new value, but '0' (unlimited) is probably the best way to go and where it was originally set at.

We'll get there, but it'll probably take another five emails. :'(

The default value for "MAX_CONNECTIONS_PER_HOUR" and related resource limits is "0".

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/4.1/en/ ... urces.html

Your webhosters are cutting down on resource consumption by imposing new limits. I would not get legal with them, but suggest that you show them evidence of the old value and mention that since you are paying them the same amount of money, were not notified of any new restrictions, no longer have a functional site, etc., they may be breaching the original agreement you have with them.

"50" is an absurdly low value. Few visit my sites, but I get many more hits than 50 per hour.

Connections per hour? (???)

I thought you all spoke of simultaneous connections.

I was just down (on purpose) for about two hours. I was trying to do a new install but ran into database restore probs. I'll be trying again later today.
