Sorry for digging up an old thread but I finally have time to open up the box and play with one of these transformers. Retirement is a great thing. If lucky I can get one day out of 7 to play with some tube stuff.

So for the question... Is the blue winding the 44VAC suitable for a bias tap for 4 tubes once rectified and filtered?

44 volts will give will give you about 60 volts dc. loaded across a v0ltage divider for stability will make an excellent bias source.
