DHT DC filament supply for headphone amps

Postby glen » Sat Feb 06, 2010 11:36 pm

Does anyone have experience with DHT DC filament supplies that are quiet enough for use in an SET OPT headamp? The headphones are high efficiency. I have been told by many that the only solution are the tent lab modules, but I wanted to ask if there were decent DIY alternatives. I have been told that an LM series regulator kills some of the sound of the DHT and that using an LM regulator as a current source doesn't work due to oscillations requiring caps on the output which make it a poor current source. Heaters for the tubes are only .25A.
