The 12VDC, 5A brick is for filaments, that should be able to light up ten 13EM7s with current to spare! @= (666) [:)

How about building your own SMPS?? Using a high switching frequncy will give you a smaller PSU.

What else can I say, but telling you guys that you are crazy ... :o)

On the other hand, we were out looking at the "Irish" people here in Chicago celebrate St Patriks Day, and crazyness seems to be the new black ... *)

There are commersial smaller HV SMPS that can be used for preamps and such, however.

12VDC is for filaments. 12V6s, 12SL7s and 12SN7s are cheaper than their 6V brethren, as are the "14V" loctals.

12VDC for filaments, plenty of current, I'll use 12V filament octal or loctal tubes.
Also could string 6.3VDC filaments, two in series. [:)

Been doing that successfully for years now with my commercial phono pre builds to keep I²R losses down in the umbilical cable to the PSU :))

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.
