You have been to San Diego?! Your kids moved there?

I just went through my storage of transformer and found out I had to do something with a big bunch of 3,5K and 5K transformers. Maybe finally the 4P1L I got from you will be of use.

4P1L is great tube for DIY project. /BW, how many DIY amps You have home?/ ;)
In San Diego I bought vintage speakers Sansui SP50 with 8 inch fullranges with cool sound for...20$. (lol)

How many??!! Do you mean finished (well .... one working at the moment), or almost finished ( between 5 and 10 (sick) ).

Got myself another grandchild two weeks ago, a Chicagoan one ...

I have read through this thread with great interest. BTW I'm new here so hi to all. I haven't picked up a soldering iron in over 7 years due to some bad things but I did design the following circuit back in the day. I thought I would offer it to any who are interested.

The above circuit has never been built although I have the accompanying preamp half built. The circuit should perform pretty well but I think I need to bypass the cathode resistor and lower the value of the grid stopper on the 12B4A. Not sure if the grid stopper is even needed on the 12B4a.

If you are quicker than me, you may heve your amp up and running before mine is done. I still have 4-5 leads to solder ... (sick)
I was going for the darling but using 12B4A instead of the 1626.

You definitely aren't resting at all!!!!
Great builds and I guess lots of interesting tubes.
I still struggle with my projects, of which I have too many. But I hope to finish a 6P1-SE rather soon. Just a few more wires and I am finished.

ECLL800 X 2 and ECC83

I posted a "preview" of this about 2 1/2 weeks ago, now it's transitioning from mental vaporware, to something approaching reality...

Winter is inexorably creeping towards us, time to clean off the workbench, find the soldering iron(s), and try something new for me:
A three-tube, 8WPC stereo PP amp. The ECLL80s basically contain the guts of two EL95s, and a weird little no-gain triode-like section,
which acts as a built-in phase inverter. This needs approx. 8.5V RMS drive to produce full output power, and a 12AX7 / ECC83
would fill in nicely to boost normal line level input up to the required voltages. Add in NFB, to help the THD and freq response,
like fiddling around with RC NFB networks to add in a bit of bass boost.. I've found several suitable schematics, I'll ditch the
preamp / tone stack / phono stage, and just go with "basic power amp") design.

B+ would be 250-270 VDC, OPTs 10K to 12K A-A, nothing special or exotic required. In a cheapskate pinch the unused UTK OPTs
from my earlier K502 mods, would be suitable (9.8K A-A, 8 ohms secondary, more or less). Or use Hammond 1609s, (10K A-A, 10W rating).

And all this should easily fit onto the same diminutive size chassis / box as do the DK101 and its near-twin EL84 SE amps.

I purchased four Lorenz ECLL800s recently, all four are closely matched, got them from "Old Guy Radiola", out in California.

And I didn't even have to hock the family jewels to get them! :)) $) (banana)

The little no-gain triode resides underneath the "starburst" in the front-most tube.
