Transformer attenuator

Postby SDS-PAGE » Thu Sep 24, 2009 10:52 am

I am 95% done building a standalone JE Labs linestage (http://members.myactv.net/~je2a3/JELsc-linepre1.jpg) with Sowter 9335 attenuator trannies (schematic: http://www.sowter.co.uk/transformer-attenuators.php) coupled to a Seiden switch.

I wired them according to the color code given on the website and put 220k between the grid of the 76 input tube and ground. My problem is that I am not getting enough attenuation - I get low to med volume at -50 dB. I double-checked my wiring, but nothing seem to be amiss as far as I could tell. I made sure that at least the blue wire on the red sleeve (-50 dB) is selected on both channels and I still get volume.

Anyone messed with these before. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,

Min

P.S. I assumed that "common" on the schematic means ground, so the grey and red wires are grounded.
