Seems that the prices for some of the Adcom preamps and preamp/tuners on e-bay have shot up.

I'm sorry. I tried to download the diy manual in the products section of this forum and it didn't work.

I just tried it ... it works fine ... either right click on it to save it, or (assuming you have Acrobat Reader installed) just click on it to open it. It's the first link in the first message in the ST-70 section.

DYNAKIT's and Triode's.

I think the Roy Mottram kit is also an option. Ask Bob Latino.

I don't know what's wrong. I've tried opening it, I've tried saving a copy and I can't get it to work. Would someone please e-mail the manual to me at rock.able@crossco.com. Thanks for the help.

Well, if you like the idea of DIY (just a guess, given where this thread is being posted), you could always do something like the Millett MAX hybrid preamp - just buy a board here, buy all the sundry parts, stuff the board and put it in a chassis. I have an original (non-MAX) version of the preamp and it is great. The downside is no phono section, but you could always start with something like this or build a phono preamp section from a PAS preamp. I'm sure someone on DIYTube could help you with a PSU design for using the phono preamp as a stand-alone.

Another option is to watch eBay and Audiogon for a used Lazarus Cascade Basic preamp - they're a great little preamp with tuner, tape and phono inputs.

WRT a preamp, you could do a lot worse than this B&K PRO-5 Preamp:
