Last few pics before I put it on A-gon and ebay:

The finished product makes it hard to sell. No need for a 10w amp though. I'll definitely be using the canary wood again! Great looking stuff!

What covers? I'm still looking for covers for teh OPTs. The PTs are NOS Collins radio trannys that were potted like that already. When I find a good source for tranny covers, I'll let everyone here know. It is a very difficult item to find.

Am I overlooking something, or is the amp in the middle missing an output transformer? I see two input jacks and two sets of binding posts on the back. This is intended to be a stereo amp, correct?

Thanks for pointing that out Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_02

No, It is not missing an output transformer, it is missing two of them ;)

They are in transit, and will be bottom mounted, thus I figured I could go ahead and post a top plate pic. That is just a PT, and a choke. Sorry for the lack of info. I was in a hurry when I posted it this morning.

dang i thought those were covers. I didnt find good source for covers anywhere. The few that I did see were from Hong Kong and with shipping it was costing way too much.

The sad part is that I'm really good with metal fabrication, but I'm lazy. I even have a welder. Shame on me!

I have figured it out though as far as inexpensive is concerned if you want to know my thoughts. There are several metal supply shops online, and you can order rectangular and square aluminum tubing up to 6" fro a really nominal fee IMO. You cut this down to the size you want and then craft the top of that out of wood and make a cap and use the wood top to secure it. Another option is to get electonic potting resin, and fill the tube up with the tranny in there suspended. Then you would just sand it even with the top of the tube and paint it. It would be really easy, and I may have to do that here unless I find something that will work for a cover.

The easiest way to get one is just google SE KT88 amplifier schematics. Alex T and Michael Addellah both have similar schematics I followed, but changed a few values for my tastes. It is a very simple circuit though.

A little more progress this weekend. No garage since I'm in an apartment now, and now I'm using a friend's shop. I like it so far though. Canary wood and purple heart deinitely will compliment each other when a nice finish is applied.

Its tough to think about selling it when I like the looks so much. Anyway, just progress.

Unfortunately this is not those amps. They are monoblocks. Same amp circuit, but much higher B+. Haven't had time to take any pics for you, but I rewired it similar to how you said with a solid bus. Not much difference though. On the other hand, they look nicer underneath. I'll shoot you a few pics soon. They were getting on my nerves so bad they almost made their way out the window onto the concrete. It would be a shame to see a pair of NOS potted trannys on the ground though.

Oh, and this amp puts most of my SS amps to shame with as quiet as it is.

I don't know if you saw the EL-34 stereo amp I built on Saturday - it sounds really great. I popped a pair of 6550's in it tonight - the bass rivals anything I have in the house ! I'm anxious to put it on the big azz Cerwin-Vega! speakers in the living room in place of the PPP Velleman 95 wpc amp and see how it sounds.

Right now this has 6L6s in it, but the KT88 and the KT90 sound superb in it. Tight bass, ecellent mids. The only major drawback is 8-10w. I saw your amp as well. It looks great!

Thanks Tom,
