I'd like to build a stereo amp on a single chassis, sharing a common power supply. Please. :)

i bet some 813's could be used to good effect. i don't think you'd need to run them at 1.5KV either, you could probably get away with around 1KV at a hotter bias. my question is how you could mount those suckers to a chassis, and what kind of chassis could support that weight? not to mention the size power transformer you'd want for that much power. i think toroids are the only way to go.

I too was thinking of 813's....
What if you ran the tubes to *only* toss out about 500wpc, and potted the tubes in clear acrilic ? I mean; if you have something like that; you MUST show them off ! Or, maybe hang them from a steel cable from the ceiling over the amp ?

It'll drown it out though! Along with my neighbors' angry phone calls. ;)

Looking at the pictures of the transformers, I think the seller's
claim of them being "50 years old" is probably inaccurate.
I don't think they had those spring steel straps with the
crimped fasteners that long ago.
