Bob's Tube Phono Preamp

Postby SDS-PAGE » Fri Nov 23, 2007 10:07 am

I am thinking about making me a new phono amp with a better power supply and filtering than the one that I built before. I want to build this one:

I wanna make one with 6SL7-6SN7. How does it look? Any room for improvement? Thanks.

I contacted Bob before making this circuit. He told me to use Jeremy Epstein's modification of it. I did but made my own PSU. My own word to the wise here: use chokes liberally in the PSU; you will need them as this circuit is very sensitive to hum. Likewise, I would sugggest adding an additonal 6SN7 stage and a cathode follower as this preamp (both Bob and Jeremy's version) lacks gain.
