Stuff we built

Postby Uncle Ned » Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:19 pm

Just for starters I thought I'd post some photos of stuff me and my partner John built.

Li'l Lupe single-ended amp. Basically, it's based on the Fender 5F1 Champ circuit, but the 10K PS dropping resistor has been replaced with an 0A3 and a Fender choke, and it uses a 7F7 instead of a 12AX7. The power and filament transformers are cheap off the shelf stuff from Mouser. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this sounds, I think the screen regulation has a lot to do with that. This is my let's see how cheap I can build a decent sounding amp project. There might be $100 in parts in it.

This is a prototype of the ST70 knockoff we made using Shannon's board. It'll look even nicer after I get the nickel-plated transformer covers back from the platers.

This has nothing to do with tubes, I just thought it's cool that a Flxible Flxliner coach is still operating in revenue service in 2006. Some of the Flxible Flyers the CTA operates aren't a lot newer.

The big bottles on the top amp look like KT88s to me, what are the ones on the ST70?

They're all KT88's! The top photo has EH KT88, the bottom Sovtek KT88.

I've used the EH KT88s on my Ikes, and really like them, over the CBET^AHA (Svetlana) 6550Cs. How do the Sovteks compare to the EHs? (I like the ST shaped glass looks).
