Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

That reminds me, when we visited our daughter's parents-in-law (do you say in-laws??) dad John showed me his very first stereo. Turntable was a Philips (automatic one), speakers were shelf-type Ohms but I cannot recall what amp and casetteplayer he had - Technics maybe. We listened a few minutes to Paul McCartneys 007-them (live and let die) and after 30-something years everything sounded quite OK.

SOS SOS - Need some computer assistance

Postby EWBrown » Fri Apr 24, 2015 4:48 pm

This is addressed to any computer-savvy folks out there, My PC has gone semi-catatonic, I can log on only as a "temporary" and have to jump through too many "hoops" in order to access the internet (or my own saved files) unsure emoticon

How do I fix this problem - My PC doesn't let me access my saved files, even though I can go through Computer > OS > (C:) > USERS > Ed Brown and see that they are all still present and undamaged, and can read them from there..

I've tried several things, I just don't want to get in too deep over my head and really screw things up worse.
BTW I am the System Administrator on this unit (but just not an IT "expert" by any means).

I googled "you have been logged on with a temporary profile"
and got the following posting:
http://www.sysprobs.com/fix-temporary-profile-windows-7
Why Windows 7 Loads with Temporary Profile?

Obviously, your profile (the files and folders located under C:\Users\user_name) is corrupted. There is another chance which is a delay in reading your profile files due to Antivirus scan or something else during boot up. Usually after typing your user name and password Windows tries to read and load your profile, if it gets corrupted or delay in reading, Windows will load with temp profile to give temporary access on computer.

The article has instructions to fix the problem.

Good luck!

P.S. Real computers only recognize punched cards as input data.

Thanks ! I'll try it out, & see what happens...

Tried the described profile edit, didn't work. It just goes back to the temp profile. I can still get on line, and do most everything that I could before,
it just takes a LOT more steps to do anything. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to temporarily shut off McAfee, and see if it works, then..

One more:

Just before the fall of the Berlin Wall, it became possible for people in Eastern Europe to make trips to the West. One such plane from Warsaw, headed for Paris, made a detour over Berlin, so that the passengers could take a look at the Wall. Berlin could be seen on the right side, and all the passengers eagerly rushed over to get a peep. In the turmoil, the aeroplane became unstable, and crashed into a field, killing everyone on board. In the subsequent inquiry, engineers had to find out the reason for the accident. They came to the only possible conclusion: the instability was caused by too many poles in the right half-plane.

And yet one more:

The photo is not of mine, but I do have both the AA-151 and AJ-12, found them at a flea market in NH about ten years ago. They are just as "clean" as these units.
I re-capped the AA-151, works well, sounds good. The Tuner works but has minor issues, probably needs a few new caps and check the actual values of the resistors, those old carbon comps do "drift" out of tolerance over the decades.
