I am just starting on mine (awaiting a few parts) and hope to build a wood replacement for the Hammond enclosure with some old cherry hardwood flooring I have lying around.

I'll be sure to post pictures when done.

You could easily remote the power LED and IR Sensor if your wood is thick.

Tom, I like the new painting scheme on this and your GSG. What is it? Looks sharp.

The doggone LCD bezels have shrunk on the most recent LCD displays (all 1602 displays from all suppliers). I've had one builder tack weather stripping in there from underneath to clean up the bezel gap. Another trick - to just get rid of the 1602 green PCB bleed through - is to black it out with a black magic marker.

Don't have my project in front of me so I'm not certain if the pins are oriented correctly tho.

The frame looks wider on that one, but the top and bottom still look thinner than the older ones. I think black markers & weather stripping are still the best options if needed. I'll shrink the opening on the next batch.

Doesn't look too bad.

There's still some pcb visible at certain angles so I might try weather stripping with this. The rubber edging is just too difficult to work with.

Sorry about that - it was just a brainstorm. The car door edging is fiddly as you say, and it also has some goop in the seam. May need alcohol to remove it. Then I use Windex and cloth to clean up the top plate.
