Coupling Cap Spec Question

Postby highflyin9 » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:51 pm

I was wondering if 350V rated caps would work in the C7/C8 position. I wanted to try dropping in some vintage Russian Silver Mica caps. TIA!

You might want to measure them - I've never seen a vintage SM within 20% of value :(

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

I think that would be fine.

I was checking out these odd looking caps, seemed like they might be fun to try:

They are super narrow tolerance at +/- 0.5%, made in the late 70s. Kind of expensive though to have them shipped over so it might not be worth it if they've shifted in value.

Sealed? Should be OK for aging. I was thinking of "postage stamp" types or other bakelite cased SM's.

Yup, it's an airtight container. I found some with a 500V rating, going to give them a shot for the cool factor I think :)
