How well does the CL90 work?

Postby gavinhaley » Fri Mar 18, 2016 12:30 am

I'm thinking of using a separate filament transformer so that I can warm up the heaters on my expensive NOS tubes before I hit them with SS rectified DC. How well does the CL90 work? Does it prevent "stripping"? I'm not exactly sure what that is but it occurs when full B+ is applied to a tube whose heater is not fully "warmed up".

Unless you're applying 10KV+ of HV to a directly heated transmitter tube, you don't need it.... stripping is a myth for indirectly heated cathode tubes. (have a search around the forums for the science ;) )

But the CL90/A works wonders for inrush surge limiting, especially for toroids.

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.
