Great, thanks!... I'm going for the 2H...gtasound wrote:The 2H 400ma 25 ohm DCR would be my recommendation because of the low voltage drop across the choke also it has over sized current capabilities
Terry, one question about the Antek, it's rated 300-0-300 and the recommended Edcor is 330-0-330,...Since I'm building an "Ultra" and plan on using 6550's or 6L6's.. wouldn't this lower the B+?....would I/could I need to adjust R-22 to keep the B+ at 300v?TerrySmith wrote:If you want a good power transformer that is quiet an Antek AS-1T300 toroid will work perfectly. You can get the optional case or mount it under the chassis . I've been using these for years now with zero noise and zero problems!
gtasound wrote:Not having ever used an Antek PT I would say that 300-0-300v is alright having used the same in a Hammond PT and it is sounding fine, the main difference for me was the current capabilities of the Hammond are much higher to supply the power as well as the heater current to the power and driver tubes.
I am in the process of building another Clementine with another 650-0-650 Hammond PT.
Antek does have an AS-2T350 200VA PT instead of 100VA PT which I think might be better suited having more current capabilities, just my opinion not having any experience with Antek PT's, the price is certainly much cheaper than a Hammond PT.

The AS-2T300 should be fine you have 330ma of main current and have 2 x 6v 4A of current so you should be able to run tubes up from 6L6GB to KT150.
Made a mistake of specifying my Hammond PT which is not 650-0-650 but is 650VCT = 325-0-325 I can run all the tubes I mentioned above, have also run KT120 on the 300-0-330 smaller Hammond PT without issues and could also run KT150, both transformers have the current capabilities to run all those tubes not at their max power output mind you, but sounding very good without pushing them to hard which to me gives a more relaxed and dynamic sound, having very sensitive speakers I do not require a lot of power I have yet to go over 0.6 watt max. while pushing well over 100db.
