New Clementine build

Postby Dk1975 » Sun Oct 20, 2013 7:47 am

Hello everyone. I am going to start a Clementine 6l6 build and probly will have some questions along the way. I have placed an order with Edcor for the iron. I must admit I am much better at wood working than I am at electronics. I'm still undecided on the choice of tubes. Pictures soon to follow

It took like 3 tries to get a nice finish on the aluminum, black shows any flaw. I might try that hammer finish paint next project

Started populating the board today, I plan on using el34 tubes, R18 and R19 should be 1.5k right?

Yes. Those each parallel with R17 & R20 (1.2K resistors) to be around 667 ohms.

I will be following your progress as I was thinking about a trying a 6L6 Clementine - only because I like the tube layout on the PCB- my Budgie SE with EL84 is great and plenty loud!
Not to high jack your postings but it makes me ask a question - what about grounding the shielding on input wires? Also is the Clementine able to take the input from a Iphone like the Budgie SE?
Thanks

Definitely not for an ULtra build, but the standard triode strapped or Darling builds should be OK. That said, I can't find the max voltage output on the iPhone. I would guess 1Vrms?

In my builds, I ground my input and output shields to the closest existing ground point on the PCB.
