Clementine Chubby Tube Rolling?

Postby jonparkhurst » Thu Apr 18, 2013 9:49 am

Morning,

I have been using KT 88, KT 66, KT 77 and EL 34 tubes in my chubby for some time now. I purchased some ocatal Valve Art 350 B tubes.

Can I use them?
Side Effects?
I tried them carefully and the appear to get HOTTER than normal tubes.

Thoughts.

Also, are there other tubes I should try?

Using a Tung Sol rectifier-suggestions for changing this?

Thanks Jon

I have never seen a VA 350B data sheet but I think they use more filament current (1.2A) than a 6L6GC and specwise they are closer to 5881s. Use the specs for a 5881 for reference. I built mine with adjustable constant current sinks instead of cathode resistors. I set the KT88s and 6650s at 80 ma but the rest I use 55 or 60 ma.
I would think the VA 350Bs would be ok. If a 6L6GB works they probably will also.
