Hammond 269EX

Postby justinsweber » Thu Nov 29, 2012 1:02 am

I was worried to use the Hammond 269EX as at 1st glance its spec'd for 115v. In my home and officer 120v is the norm and so I thought I might been over-running the power transformer. I garbed a copy of the PDF from Hammonds site and it seems the 269EX power transformer has a 125v and 115 primary.
So, If I use the 125V there are no worries that I might be over stressing the power transformer with too much incoming voltage? right?

Thanx... The 269EX is nearly $20 cheaper.

Right. Probably the most stress is on the 1626, so lowering the B+ by using the 125V tap can help reach the target voltages if everything measures high.

I'm a novice builder so ill start with the 369ex and make adjustments if the b+ is too high. I didn't realize that using the 125v primary would lover the 380ct rating :-(

Justin, I misread your original post. Just use the 269EX. It'll be fine. Most of us have mains over 120VAC.

I've used the old style 269EX (115V primary) with no problems, my averageAC line voltage here is 123VAC, with only a volt's variation, under most situations.
