Hammond 369ex ... need edcor part instead

I like ordering from fewer suplers... does anyone have a good edcor part number?

Hammond 369EX
380V C.T. @ 75ma. 6.3V C.T. @ 2.5A


PLEASE HELP.

Additionally what edcor choke woudl you sugest?

Is the Edcor XPWR177-0/120/240 the best choice?
Primary (Input)
Designed for 120V and 240V, 50/60Hz.

Secondary (Output)
This transformer has multiple voltage windings, 400V (200-0-200) at 70mA center tapped and 6.3V (3.15-0-3.15) at 2.5A center tapped.

Hi,

Well, if you can get away with 20V higher and drop it a little (or use a lossier rectifier) and 5mA less, this will work:

And choke depends on your current draw expected. What will that be?

Id like to build a stockish unit... I dont have the ability to fig out how to lower the voltage. I do like monster chokes... the amp becomes super quite. The last Darling I built used the 369EX transformer and a 7H 200ma choke.

So... Which would you sugest for a drop in use? or what changes would be needed.

Either will be fine.

This will drop in or will is the 400CT too much when Shannon spec'd it for a 380ct? I will be using the board as stock... no tube rectifer.

The edcor is $5 cheaper than the Hammond and is spec'd for 120v not 115v liek the 269ex and is $30 cheaper than the 369EX which is a true 120v transformer. Just trying to find a Hamond 369EX replacement.

Edcor will wind you a custom unit for $40 fee over what the retail price will be. If we did it as a group buy and ordered 10 (I think 10?), they waive said fee.

Maybe Shannon could chime in on a custom Edcor transformer for the Clemintine, perhaps even get it listed as a Project Package on their site?

That looks like the closest to me, too. You can also email Tom McNally and see if he's used any Edcor PTs in a Darling build (I'm sure he has).

This seems just fine for the Darling Clementine and 1626s. It's the XPWR005-120 and Clementine 6L6-build (aka Chubby Clementine) that you need to parallel filaments for higher current draw output tubes (like KT88s). Which build are you planning?

So I now think I will be ordering 2 PCBs.

1 for a 1626 with edcor iron ($40 per output transformer) and 1 for KT120s. For the 1626 Ill use the Hammonds. SE KT120 no feedback.

Shannon which will work for a KT 120?

XPWR-051 Power transformer for a 120V, 60Hz. line to 660V (330-0-330) at 125mA center tapped and 6.3V (3.15-3.15) at 4A center tapped.

XPWR-178 Power transformer for a 120V, 60Hz. line to 660V (330-0-330) at 200mA center tapped, 6.3V (3.15-0-3.15) at 6A center tapped and 5V (2.5-0-2.5) at 3A center tapped.

Not sure you can get enough drive from only one section for KT120. You'd better look into that before you place orders.

I think Shannon thought it would be fine, but Id liekto hear from him.
Ive used KT88s with my last Chub Chem and it worked great... needed 800mv in for full output, where the 6l6gc only needed 600mv

With a KT120 you will want at least 500 to 550 volts B+ , i just built a ST70 for someone using them and Shannons ST 70 driver board , it will drive them to 90 watts before cliping . I used 550 volt to the KT 120's , 390 volts to the driver tube (12bh7) and 350 volts to the 12AX7 .

Heavier power tube bias currents will increase linearity, but to get more output power you would need something with higher B+ than the Clementine can handle. The 450V (with IRCL) is tweaked as far as it can go with the XPWR005-120.

But you could go with some EL34s instead for more power due to their higher transconductance. And if you went ULtra, you'd push it further (since you have more gain with the UL over triode-strapped).
