GXSE vs CXSE output transformers

What sound quality would be gained by using the CXSE Edor OPT (20-20Hz) vs the GXSE (40-18Hz) in a KT66 Clementine.

I would think the CXSE would benefit the more powerful amp like you want to build the most. Over at diyaudio tubelab form they are well liked for the SE and SET amps if you want better bass and improved highs.

From my reading the bigger mass helps the bass mostly. If you were building the low watt version it may be to the negative to use the big transformer. From what I've read SE amps generally end up with bigger transformers than many large wattage PP amps.

Hope that helps!

Randy, thank you for the advice. One of my main concerns was that the CXSE is much larger and 7 lbs heavier than the GXSE, my top plate may be to small for the CXSE, have both on order, will just have to wait and see when they arrive.

with respect I have to disagree. I have the CXSE and use them with my 5watt 300bs with fantastic results. I even tried with the 1626 before I installed it finally. The size and wieght issues are significant, but owning the XSE, GXSE and CXSE The CX is by far the nicest and worth the extra coin. I wish Edcor had a 10watt and 15 watt version which should be much smaller.
