Got it....I need to change the wiring....
snip and lift the top of r19 in the pic and run a wire direct to the negative post on the meter?

This won't correct it.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "top of R19." Your blue wire from the meter to the board is the negative post of the meter, right? This connects to circuit ground. Lift this end of R19 (bottom on the pic) and connect to the positive post of the meter (where you have R17 connected).

Clear as mud?

Ahhh oh well I only had a 50% chance of getting it wrong :$ And yes blue was to -'ve terminal ....my bad!
I won't give up the day job! I'm out all day today but will report back once done.

Ok heavy rain stopped play so I got the changes done and it works!,,, 55 ma on both meters....but.....now I'm getting a low crackly buzz through one channel :'( I'm off down the parts store to see if I can get the right value cap for the feedback circuit as I left the low value cap In....also need a new DVM as mine went awol and re do voltages.
It's not easy this DIY lark
