Chub Clem... mods for use of EL34s

Postby justinsweber » Sat Jan 21, 2012 5:27 am

I have a 6l6GC Chubby Chem. Id like to be able to run 6L6GCs or EL34.

If I jumper pin 1 and pin 8... will I only be able to run EL34s or both?
Does anyone have a pic of what the jumper looks like installed?
Can I add the jumper even if already soldered too?

2nd question: Any pics of the Chubby Clem with feedback and UL... The visual could be helpful.

Thank you.

I just took a cut resistor lead, formed a U, and dropped it into 1 & 8 (at V2 and V3). Already soldered lugs are fine - just heat it up and slip it in with some tweezers or pliers. Makes a perfect test clip for monitoring the bias voltage. You will be able to tube roll between EL34s and 6L6 types - so don't hesitate. I only left it off the board (i.e. didn't jumper them in the layout) because I was worried some 1626 tubes might not like them jumpered, mainly due to lack of datasheets & info on them. I'll probably just add it in a future.

I'll see if I can't do some Clem ULtra info this weekend.
