R18,R19 1.5K, 3W
72-RWM410-1K5-5 0.63
Use these for >19W dissipation power tubes

R18,R19 1.8K, 3W
72-RWM410-1K8-5 0.50
Use these for <19W dissipation power tubes

This is from the parts list for the 6l6 version of the Clementine.
The question is: which dissipation is a 6L6gc? How do I find out?

Thank you,

Justin

Metal tube 6L6, glass tube 6L6-G, 6L6-GA, and 6L6-GB are all 19 watt tubes. The 6L6-GC is a 30 watt rated tube. This rating is for the total dissipation (heat) the plate can withstand, and is not necessarily a direct indication of how much audio power you can extract from the tube.

I like to look up my quick tube specifications here:
http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/tubesearch.php

Just type in the tube designation and hit Query. In this case, the information you seek is noted under PaMax. P is for power (volts times amps, or watts) and a is for anode (the plate).
"It's a different experience; the noise occlusion, crisp, clear sound, and defined powerful bass. Strong bass does not corrupt the higher frequencies, giving a very different overall feel of the sound, one that is, in my opinion, quite unique."

FWIW, I've been using the more conservative cathode network on everything for backwards compatibility. This permits me to run 6L6GAs *and* 6L6GCs.

How good are the metal tube 6L6s for audio? I may have
a few somewhere.

The metal 6L6s would be perfectly good for audio, just a little less output power than the more modern 6L6GCs.

The metal shells can get very hot during normal operation, and can raise a good juicy blister on a careless finger :'(

Thanks, Ed. Glad to know those tubes can be put to good use.

Just to confirm, this is read as:
1.5K, 3W
Use these for GREATER THAN 19W dissipation power tubes

1.8K, 3W
Use these for LESS THAN 19W dissipation power tubes

Right? :)

I added a little clarification, so that "exactly"19W is not "excluded" :

Just to confirm, this is read as:
1.5K, 3W
Use these for GREATER THAN 19W dissipation power tubes

1.8K, 3W
Use these for 19W. or LESS THAN 19W dissipation power tubes

Right? :)

Better yet, if you have cats and and they get their noses too close to the metal tubes, you can 'raise' the entire cat a few feet in the air. Pretty impressive stuff! Just another use for hot metal tubes.
