Nothing yet. I have been busy. I asked a couple of questions in another thread, but got no answers. I will probably get around to working on it over the next couple of days.

Thanks for the update! Just happen to have a bunch of 807s and been waiting for someone to break the ice with a 807 Clementine! (c)

1625/12SL7 Clementine

Postby Thermion » Mon Dec 12, 2011 8:05 pm

Al,

I'm also building a Clementine amp based on the 807/1625 tube family. I have a whole bunch of these tubes just waiting for a good amp project. It should be completed in the next week or two. Hoping to be done before the holidays.

I'm using Edcor GXSE15-8-5k as the output and Edcor XPWR114-120 as the power transformer. I'm using this particular PT because of the 12 volt filament. The 1625 is a 12 volt version of the 807. The front end tube will be a 12SL7. Tube rectification will be with a 5AR4 or GZ-37.

The output will be ultralinear single-ended with 6 db of global feedback. My prototype yielded ~9 watts in this configuration. Very similar to what Shannon got with his 6L6 version.

That sounds like a cool project. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Since this thread seems to be getting more traffic, perhaps I should ask my question here. How are pentode and triode configurations made on the Clemintine board?
Thanks,

For triode mode, you would just put in 100 ohm resistors on the board for R15 and R16. This straps the screen to the plate.

I wouldn't recommend pentode mode for this amp. To do this, you will need to supply some dc voltage to the screen. I don't think Shannon intended this as an option.

Ultralinear mode is a good choice if you have screen taps on the output transformer.

In my project, I am using chassis mount ceramic sockets for the 1625 tubes that are mounted behind the board. The plate cap will be soldered directly to the lead from the output trannie, and the screen tap will be soldered to the tube socket. The other connections (grid, cathode, and filaments) will come from the octal socket holes on the board.

I wondered because I happened to have a spare set of X-formers and a bunch of 807 (Russian).

Finished this amp a few weeks ago. I like the way it sounds. I need to take some pics. How does one upload pictures on this site?

Al, you can upload them to Flickr, or you can just email them to me and I'll upload them to the website.

I will snap a couple of shots later today, and see if I can figure out flicker. Don't want to keep bugging Shannon.
