Ultra linear + feedback? Feedback? or No NFB or UL ?

Ok, basic question for all the much smarter people out there.

I have a 6l6 Clementine I’m building, with GXE15watt 5k, 8ohm.
I want at least 5 watts output, but want a rich/ great sound.

Right now it’s setup without NFB or using the UL taps.
Should I use NFB? or NFB + the UL tap?

Maybe Shannon can make 3 schematics to cover all the different options?
I like build by numbers... I enough of an EE to die by my own hand :-).

This is a "which religion is for me" question.... literally.

You'll have to try and find for yourself ;)

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Justin, check this post of mine:

If you need 5W or more - and can drive the amp with up to 2V - go for the ULtra. With 6dB of feedback, the amp behaves very much like a triode amp. With no feedback, a UL amp is horrible for hifi. With 3dB of feedback, a UL amp is improved, but still is bested by a triode amp. With 6dB of feedback, we 'look' like a triode amp: same ratio of 2nd and 3rd order harmonics and similar damping (i.e. internal resistance). Just more power. The beauty is you can try both and decide by ear.
