I have a Rega P2 with 250 arm and a Denon DL-103 cartridge. I like the sound of the Rega but in my system the glass platter is a bit bright. I have a modified ST-70 and Klipsch RF-7's. I considered upgrading the Rega, but think I'll switch to a VPI Scout for the same money as the Rega mods.
BUT ... all this being said, I think Rega make s a GREAT out-of-the-box starter table ... AFTER you ditch their junk MM cartridges! I had a hard time with tracking force. Stock was too light and every record sounded dirty. If I went any higher, the sound distorted. NOT a fan of Rega cartridges!
BTW, Rega tables have a unique sound that sets them apart from others. The secret ... they run a tad faster than 33-1/3.
