Thrift store Infinitys

I found a pair of Infinity RS1s and the thrift store. Well not really, I found their smaller cousins the SM-102 :'(

But for only $4. The surrounds were bad on one and the dust caps were kinda crushed. I looked at lots of reviews and opinions and no one seemed to like them. I got them anyway. Cabinets are in mint condition. I replaced the surrounds, added an inch of polyfill on the walls and they sound very, very close to my RS5Bs, with a little less bass, more mids and more treble. They do get very loud with 100db sensitivity. Wonderful clear tweeter. Really made my thrift store Advent 2Ws sound poor.

GU50 amplifier $600 (wine)
Infinity speakers (repaired) $40 (d)
Audiophile spending $640 on a power cord = priceless (well maybe not) (n)

I made some adjustments to the crossover, to decrease the mid and treble. I replaced the 1.5 ohm 10 watt resistor in series with the tweeter with a 2.7 ohm 15 watt, and added a 20 ohm 10 watt across the tweeter. Also replaced the 12.5 uf cap on the woofer with a 33uf to kill some mids in the woofer. Tool sounds wonderfuller.
