Speakers for dynaco sca-35's

Postby eldub » Wed Jan 23, 2013 9:45 am

greetings.

I just bought a dynaco sca-35 for our coffee roasting shop. I'll prolly purchase a set of Omega single driver speakers eventually, but would like to pick up something cheap and local for the time being.

I have my eye on a pair of Boston Acoustic A-150's as well as a a pair of Timeframe 250's. Anyone have any comments or suggestions on these or other speakers that might pair nicely with a dynaco sca-35?

Thanks in advance.

These push-pull EL84 amps work well with a variety of speakers. I would focus on getting speakers with the highest sensitivity out of those available to you, say 91dB to 94dB 1m/1W would be better than 85dB to 90dB 1m/1W.

you may want to supplement with a powered sub woofer, too.....i know those coffee roasters are pretty noisy, i used to do it for a living!

Thanks, guys.

I'm running omega alnico 6" single driver speakers with a Dynaco st-70 and a Manley stingray. Both systems have powered subs.

The dynaco sca-35 puts out half the power of the two mentioned above amps and I was just wondering if you diy'ers had any funky suggestions. I'll prolly go with a set of omega 3e's unless someone wants to steer me in another direction.

MAY I suggest a pair of ADS L620'S OR 730's, 810's The L620'S I would mount from the ceiling angling at a 60 degree face down position! those speakers are about 92spl but boy do they sound good! Some of the best sounding 2-way's from the late 70's early 80's ever made at their price point! These speakers actually disappear! Pianolydia P.s. You need to check out Dave Gilespie's Enhanced Fixed Bias for the Dynaco SCA-35 Makes it adjustable fixed bias in a floating way and decreases distortion in half of more! adds about 2-watts more per channel as well! Pair these together and that would be heaven on earth!

The HSU HB-1s are very efficient:

Try eBay for the Ascend Acoustic cbm-170. Great sounding. Very reasonable. :$
