Line array - maybe baby?

Got some inspiration from a guy over here who had purchased a box of small 3 inch fullrange chassis and started to wonder if should try the same trick.
So here's the speakers:
http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-3-fullrange/aurasound-ns3-194-16a-3-paper-cone-16-ohm/
A box of 50 of those little thingies will cost med 75 buckweats and an extra 90 pesetas for shipping (and some extra 35 dollares for VAT in Sweden :/ ).

As I have very little space left in my corner and something tall and slim would work very good.

Right now I am trying to study the principles of line arrays and bi/di-poles.

Then, when I start exercising my brane cells, I recall some theories, found in papers from either Motorola or a synth-place. The idea looked something like this:

Left >--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--O--< Right

The 'O's' are the chassis, connected with some kind of filter/time delay in between in a way that the channels got more and more mixed. However this constructions also means that speaker is mounter horizontall.

Auratone the company that made those speakers used to sell Bose 901 Knock off 5" speakers .

.Take a small satelite dish and mount 9 drivers on it and make a parabolic array ;)

I was thinking of something similar, but in a vertical column, these little 3 inchers would work nice with a PVC 4 inch (100mm) square fence post, for a real cheapie tower.

For USA, the only fly in the ointment, is that 76.5 mm frontal diameter is about an RCH larger than the standard 3 inch rould hole drill (76.2 mm). but then, just a tad of "wobble"
from my cheap made in Chinastan drill press would probably add the extra 0.3-.04 mm necessary. ;) (lol)

Probably wouldn't need any fancy delay / phasing tricks, just hook them up in series / parallel in order to get your desired load impedance.

Use the bass and treble controls to compensate for the weaker SPL response at the lower and higher extremes.

At a buck and a half each in qtys of 50, this is almost tempting.... =:o [:) O:)

I guess I could make a column with closed back (infinite baffle). But what about di- or bipoles?

More thinking, how about 16 drivers of this kind in each channel:

The total cost will be slightly higher than ordering the 50 units from madisound, but I guess the quality is higher.

Those Founteks look suspiciously like the "Tang Band" speakers from Part Sexpress :/ :)) [:)

Fountak has a ribbon tweeter that I find interesting (and cheap):

The local Lowe's store has these same fenceposts, no expensive shipping of 4 foot long packages...

BTW, the box of 50 3 inch 16 ohm Aura speakers just arrived.... :/ [:) :))

I still haven't decided if I will sell my old speakers, which I must do before I by the speakers from Germany ... (???)
