Capacitor ID

Postby tenthumbs » Fri Apr 23, 2010 8:04 pm

Evening,

Newbie here.

Recently purchased a set of ESS AMT 1a speakers and upon inspection, noticed one of the caps was broken. Searching for a replacement but cant seem to find one matching the description on the cap.

It shows;

44uf-75V

its just slightly larger than a AA battery. Checked Parts Express but they don't list any such animal.

Any help???

Thanks!

Hi,

You can parallel a Parts Express 027-260 and a 027-226 or just get one PA4300 from Solen.ca (43uF is close enough.. 2.5% difference)

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

You might want to try Madisound http://www.madisound.com/

I see the only thing close to 44 is a 45 in the Solen section.
As long as the voltage rating is the same or higher than the
original, you'll be ok. A purist would change the caps in both
speakers so they stay matcher.

thanks for the replies....was looking at a 47uf - above the rating and close enough to not a make huge difference.

Agreed, should change both....

I have a set of ESS A1Bs. I saw someone suggested to replace the pots with fixed resistors. I replaced the capacitors with cheap Xicons for some reason. =:o Ima have to go back and replace all the capacitos as the right speaker is louder than the left. :(

Replace the crossover caps in both speakers too, or their characteristics will differ and you'll end up with two different speakers.

Cheers!

Does anyone where I can find the correct values for the capacitors for a AMT1B or AMT1C? I have 2 10uf and 2 33uf and a single 4ohm 10 watt resistor.
