Headphone Recommendation? Sony Pro MDR-7506?

the weakest link we love so much

What do you guys think of the Grado SR series? I haven't ever owned a pair, but from what little time I've spent with them, I found them very comfortable. Lots of sound leakage form the open air design though...

Just a confirmation: the Sony MDR-V6 (no gold 7506s) are excellent and perfect for my needs. They have great isolation, above average sound quality, and great build quality. Importantly, they don't squish my head or make my ears hot during a long session. Packaging probably hasn't changed in twenty years, as it was a cardboard box with fabric lining - not your typical plastic Han Solo packaging. They were manufactured in Thailand, not China.

Check out the Grado lines. I have had good
luck with them. My boss swears that they are
the best. They are, also, affordable.

The MDR-V6 is manufactured in Thailand; the MDR-7509HD’s are manufactured in China, where is the MDR-7506 manufactured? I am just curious to see if the V6 and 7506 models are possibly made in the same facility.

Wouldn't be surprised, as only the plug is different, AFAIK.

Thanks for the pad tip, Audioray. Hope you are keeping warm up there!

I bought a pair of MDR-V6’s from etronics.com this week and they were manufactured in China! I am assuming the new MDR-7506’s are also made there.
Shannon, you must have got some “NOS” MDR-V6’s that were made in Thailand.
Nevertheless, I really like the headphones as they are comfortable and sound fantastic.

I would not be surprised if they actually were NOS - the packaging took me back twenty years for sure.
