GetSetGo Finished

Shannon et al,
Thanks for all the help. Just finished this other than to respray the PT cover which was a kind of crackle finish. Fired up first time and dead silent. it sounds wonderful and it is not run in at all. Great design Shannon. And thanks to he who sent me the Front Panel design which saved me a lot of measuring for the PCB screws. I modified it a fair bit. Mostly to make it cheaper!

PT TRA400 from askjanfirst (http://www.askjanfirst.com/)-really helpful guy. I got the cover for an earlier project but it just happened to fit.

THe heater voltages were a little high so I put in 2x 0.18R. One side is 6.4 the other is 6.3. Should I try to get them to be identical? In fact all the voltages are slightly high but only by around 4% or so. The primary is 100/117/230v and I'm on 240v This is sometimes 245v out of the wall. So much for Euro harmony!

Valves are 1970's 6C4C winged logo, NOS 6H9C and RCA 6AX5GT.

Best
John

Yes it is 3mm anodised aluminium. Front Panel Express in USA or http://www.schaeffer-ag.de/ in Europe. You design it, upload it and back it comes in the mail

Gorgeous! :))

Is that solid walnut?

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Yes, it is American walnut. I am reliably informed by the local bespoke cabinet maker who supplies me with these small amounts that European walnut is awful at the moment. The cab is held together with s/steel cap screws and threaded inserts. The feet are ebony leftovers from a guitar project.

This amp sounds great and has no problem driving my speakers (92-
93 dB) which did slightly worry me when I started the project.

My hardwood supplier says the same.

American walnut must be expensive there? I know I pay close to $10 BF (Board Foot) for raw walnut I have to plane myself =:o

Cheers!

Thanks for these fantastic photos, John. It's a pleasure and honor to a small part of a great stereo system like that!

Shannon,
On the contrary, thanks to you and others with help. Am I ok with this slight difference between the 2 heater voltages?
Regards

No problem - your heater voltages are fine.
