It seems pretty much all Cardas stuff requires a hot iron and some patience. All the wire is enamelled so you have to heat the solder up on the copper and burn it off. The binding posts, RCAs (both male and female), spades, etc. all require you to hold an iron on them for 10-15 seconds with solder on the tip. Eventually the piece will get so piping hot that the solder will take. I've got a Hakko 951 that I have to turn all the way up and it still takes that long.
