A shiny new Get*Set*Go with Transcendars

As usual I've been taking my time with this project, but it's finally complete.

I opted for Transcendar 312-OT 5K OPTs and threw in a few other fancy parts like Jupiter caps, etc.

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Haha, I just buy those Cardas posts because I like the copper color; they're a real pain to solder.

I recently picked up a few of the Cardas "Economy" posts, they look nearly as nice, they're cheaper and the solder melts onto them right away. I'm using a set on my soon to be complete chubby Clem.

I gave up trying to solder them.... but they're as thick, so I drilled and tapped the dang things for 6-32 screws and used spade lugs for hooking up the OPT's (lol)

It seems pretty much all Cardas stuff requires a hot iron and some patience. All the wire is enamelled so you have to heat the solder up on the copper and burn it off. The binding posts, RCAs (both male and female), spades, etc. all require you to hold an iron on them for 10-15 seconds with solder on the tip. Eventually the piece will get so piping hot that the solder will take. I've got a Hakko 951 that I have to turn all the way up and it still takes that long.
