Having built over 20 get*set*go amps, may I suggest you try the
Sovtek 6B4G's and make things simpler and the way the designer
intended. 6B4G's are the EXACT SAME tube as a 2A3, just in a
more modern base (8 pin instead of 4) and with a 6 volt filament
instead of 2.5 volts.
The get*set*go is designed with 6 volts DC on the filaments,
you can't easily change that. If you powered the 2A3's with
two filament transformers, you would bring up the hum level
that Directly Heated Triodes are famous for.
The get*set*go is a great amp, I can build one in a few hours
and get perfect results every time.
I've built a few with 300B's which is a simple resistor change
and the DC filament supply stays intact. Another secret
and tube to use is the 6AV5GA. You can save $ 80 and have
a superb sounding amp.
Here are a few of mine ... notice that I like the black Hammond chassis.
