is there a replacement for the 511-1N5821 rectifiers?

they are available, but not at mouser.

P.S. - Shannon, thanks for the reduced price on the PCB.

replacement for unavailable BOM item for PCB

Postby weeves » Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:30 am

this looks exactly the same as the 511-1N5821-TR

http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=1N5821RLvirtualkey51120000virtualkey511-1N5821-TR

- Just ordered the parts, and once again I realized right after I processed the order, that I forgot to add a 100K pot for volume control- ugh

( don't know if someone want's to update the BOM at Mouser for the project )[/url]

Radio Shack 100k volume control pots are quite decent.

Are they still Alps, or now Alpha?

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

The one I got from Radio Shack was not ALPS.
At first I wanted to be a ET. Now I are one.

Mouser still has many 1N5821 options available, even though they are dropping the parts from STMicro. I'd probably go with the one from Fairchild (512-1N5821) if you absolutely insist on a direct replacement. The only downside is the Fairchild diodes are over twice the cost of the old STM pieces.

You could also go with the STMicro 1N5822. It still has the same nineteen cent unit price of the old 1N5821, and the specs are awfully close. The only significant difference I see is the 1N5822 has an ever so slightly higher forward voltage drop (0.525 volts, vs. 0.500). I'm wagering the difference will be irrelevant in the GSG circuit.
"It's a different experience; the noise occlusion, crisp, clear sound, and defined powerful bass. Strong bass does not corrupt the higher frequencies, giving a very different overall feel of the sound, one that is, in my opinion, quite unique."
