Completed constructing the Frugal Horns yesterday - This amp combined with the Frugal Horn is the best sounding system I have ever owned.

Drivers on the Frugal Horns are Fostex FE126En with an SPL of 93dB.

I send music to it wirelessly with an Apple Airport Express / iTunes:)

Just want to thank Shannon for posting such a fun and great sounding amp and Tom for all the answers to posted questions that made it easy to accomplish.

Cheers - Robert

Very fine looking craftsmanship there. I'm a big fan of the little Fostex drivers myself. I've been meaning to build a set of Frugal Horns... maybe someday. Enjoy the music. :))
"It's a different experience; the noise occlusion, crisp, clear sound, and defined powerful bass. Strong bass does not corrupt the higher frequencies, giving a very different overall feel of the sound, one that is, in my opinion, quite unique."

Wow - beautiful job, Robert! Thank you for sharing the pictures with us. My Fostex pipes pair up nicely with the Get*set*go, too.

That REAL wood on that amp (love) Gorgeous!

Was that a flat-pack you got from Planet10, or from scratch?

Cheers!

Thanks for the compliments- The amp base is 8/4 walnut.

The Frugals are hand made from a good quality 3/4 cherry veneer plywood. I did a 45 degree lock miter on the front vertical edge and capped the top with solid wood to hide the joinery. I can post the PDF's of the plans for the joinery and cut sheets if you want them.

Here are some shots of the test run with walnut plywood-

Almost as much woodworking making the templates and sled to get ready to do the woodworking on these speakers.

One sled to cut the front angle -

One template to router the curved back.

and the last template to do the rebate for the internal parts -

These are tough little cabinets to make.... but I had the plywood left over from another project and hate veneering. Otherwise I would recommend the flat pack from planet 10 hi fi. http://www.planet10-hifi.com/

Very nice construction quality on the GSG and the speakers!

Yes, please post the PDF's of the plans for the joinery and cut sheets. I need a winter project :))

Great looking setup. I love the wood chassis on the amp. Where did you source the top plate template?
Thanks
