I did exactly that, two chokes, for CLCLC, with a couple of my 6B4G GSG builds, and it does just as Shannon says, makes it totally, dead "black background" quiet.
To answer the first question, a larger choke will have little or no effect on the damping factor, that is a function of the combination of the 6B4G, the OPT and the actual speaker loading.
And a higher inductance choke will lower the ripple, the bigger the better, as long as its DC resistance doesn't get too high, else that couldlower the B+ voltages.
