Caps voltage ratings

Postby offanonone » Thu Jul 28, 2011 9:20 am

Hi all,

Loving my GSG with 6C4C's. (love) Now got a pair of NOS 6B4-G's as an upgrade to try out.

I have a couple of 220uf 10v Os-con SA caps spare from another project and wondered if these would be an improvement on the standard elects for C3 & C4 ?. These are speced as 25v in the BOM. Would 10v have enough safety margin?

Thanks in advance,

John

Glad you are having fun with your GSG, John! A 10V rating would be OK for C3 and C4, as the DC bias is only around 1V. Just be careful not to muck up the solder pads, as they are a little undersized on C3 and C4. I'll fix that in the next board order.
