Edcor XPWR005?

Postby Ty_Bower » Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:17 pm

Has anyone ever tried using an Edcor XPWR005 power transformer in a Get*Set*Go? It looks to have about the right specifications...

I saw a thread talking about the Edcor website being down - it is this morning as well. Are they kaput? (???)
Looking for the specs on that tranny. If the 6.3VAC windings are separate and equal, it should be fine.

XPWR005: Secondary is 330-0-330VAC at 180ma , two 6.3V at 2.5 amp windings. Primary is 120VAC 60 Hz.

I'm wondering if they're inclined to hum. How's the varnishing on the Edcor transformers?

AFAIK, Edcor is in the middle of "upgrading" their website, and it got completely "hosed" in the process....

New and improved, indeed... :/ :| (sick)

I'm very happy with the Edcor PT. I'll use one again when I build my next GSG. I dropped a few photos in my GSG thread.

Drove right past the Edcor factory in Carlsbad, NM

Postby hembrook » Sun Jan 30, 2011 10:33 am

My dad & I took Xmas vacation to drive to Az from TX. Went right thru Carlsbad, and saw the Edcor factory. I just caught a glimpse of the sign as we drove by and thought "They are HERE?" How cool.
