Will this output trans work with the GSG?

Single Ended Ultra-Linear HiFi output transformer. This transformer is rated at 30W and has a nominal primary impedance of 1.25k with secondary taps for 4,8, & 16ohms. Frequency response is 20Hz-20kHz +/- 1dB @ 30W. Recommended Max primary DC 225mA. Can also be set up for different primary impedances by changing loading on secondary taps. Other combinations are 625ohm primary with 4 and 8ohm outputs, 2.5k primary with 8 and 16ohm outputs, 5kohm primary with 16ohm output. Typically used for PSE 300B's, 2A3's, 6B4G's. Could also be used with 6C33 or quad PSE EL34's, 6L6GC's,

Thanks

That must be the Triode Electronics 30W SE OPT... Nice trannie, but not really applicable to the GSG...

By loading the 4 ohm output with 8 ohms, it would looke like a 2.5K primary , and a 16 ohm speaker on teh 4 ohn output, it would look like 5K primary.

It isn't really all that suitable fo the GSG, and it would be a serious "overkill", as well as being very large and heavy.

There are other better choices of OPTs for the G*S*G, primary should be between 3K and 5K, I've used the James 6113HS and the Magnequest RH-60 (5K) both with good results. The James OPT allows for 3.5K or 5K primary, though these are not very easy to find. Another good choice would be the Transcendar 3K 10W SE OPT.

For a 5K OPT the primary winding should have an inductance of around 30H, and for a 3K to 3.5K, about 20H would be good, as this assures best low freq response. Less inductance equates to less bass response.

L (Primary Inductance in Henries), Z (primary impedance in ohms); F3 (lowest freq -3db point in Hz). 2Xpi = 6.28

L = Z / (6.28 X F3)

Thanks Ed

I have been pretty busy so just now getting back to this.
I have not made up my mind yet but your input will certainly help!

That trannie would be good for paralleled SE 300Bs, 2A3sa, EL34s, 6L6GCs, etc. and with those weird Russiai made 6C33Cs, whch run with a 600-700 ohm OPT.
