New Get Set Go!

Postby RobertWStephens » Sat Jan 19, 2008 10:45 pm

Hello! I just finished my Get Set Go. I had a lot of fun building this one. I decided to go with 6B4G tubes after all. The build cost me about $475 with shipping from 5 different sources. My voltages check out great. I don't have any hum!!! Thanks for keeping this fun. Peace. Robert

Pretty sweet! I like the compact look to it. Those Transcendars sound as good as they look. Under 100 bucks/pair, you just can't got wrong. Where did you get the chassis?

Hifi heaven on a shoestring budget - thanks for the price update. The jewel indicator light adds a nice touch.

Hello!

Postby RobertWStephens » Sun Jan 20, 2008 10:02 am

Hello! The chassis is the Hammond unfinished aluminum 12x10x2. The amplifier jewel is my favorite touch. I like the amber jewel the best because it matches the glow of the tubes. I got the 6B4G's from Jim McShane for $40. He talked me out of triode strapping the $12 pair. Gery at Transcendar was easy to deal with. I like the fact that all the transformers, 1/2 my tubes, my coupling caps, the board and some other parts are US made. Peace. Robert

Yep - diytube boards are engineered, manufactured and sold from within the great state of Illinois!

Inside pic

Postby RobertWStephens » Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:54 pm

Hello! Here is a pic of the inside as requested. I am enjoying the sound. I have it hooked up to my newly recapped Dynaco PAS 2, a Sansui SR-222 turntable and some Bob Brines FB-16/FE167E speakers I built last year. It can play pretty loud, but really sounds great at a moderate volume. Peace. Robert
