Completed Get*Set*Go

I am listening to the Get Set Go that I finished this morning. Sounds very nice even without any break-in.

I did decide to retain the two output tube sockets, color coded the connections.

Very nice craftsmanship Lee!

What are the transformers ?
Is that an input selector and attenuator board ?

Thank you for the comments.

The output xfmrs are MagneQuest TFA-204's.

The board is a Glassaudio attenuator, center is for large volume adjustments for both channels, the others are for fine adjustments for the right and left channels. I will be removing it tomorrow, the Playstation 1 used as a CD player does not have enough output for a passive volume control.

Excellent job!

That's a good idea with dual sockets, you could try 6A3's, or mod it for 300B's.

That is a very nice amp, clean and neat wiring. I love the wood chassis. Great job!

The multi-talented GSG, or how to make your own tube-tester

Postby EWBrown » Mon Oct 29, 2007 5:57 am

I have been considering building up a second GSG to use 2A3s (separate filament trannies and 4 pin sockets, as well as 6B4Gs.

Oh, yeah, add in another set of octals and make it parallel-connected 6BL7GT compatible. as well Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_06

Since parallel-connected 6BL7s prefer to run into a 5K plate load, and the James 6113s / 6115s just happen to have an otherwise-unused 5K primary tap, that issue is automatically taken care of!

Of course, such a "convertible" GSG amp is going to look like a tube tester in pretty short order...

...especially if one were to also mount and wire in two 9 pin sockets for EL84s in UL mode... That would be good for about 4.5WPC. (use the 5K and UL primary taps.
