Tom, yes I had planned to make it convertible, but not sure now, may make things too complicate for my daughter. Will machine a plate to cover the two holes.

Another photo including the unfinished ZigmaHornet speakers with Merrill DCA4 drivers. The cost of material and drivers is around $100.00, the best $100 I have ever spent in audio. These are absolutely wonderful sounding speakers especially considering they are only 4.5". The veneer is going to cost 2 to 3 times the price of the ply and drivers.

Gorgeous woodwork Lee!

I love the woodworking part as much as the listening part of this hobby. I see and recognize the spalted Maple, but is the rest Mahogany or a Padauk? It does not look like Rosewood to me, but certain species and variations throw me sometimes.

Blair, you are correct in your recognization of the spalted Maple, the other is Redheart, a wonderful wood to work with.
