I am finally well enough to finish building my GSG, but for some reason I ended up with 3.3K 3W resistors instead of 2.7K 3W (R15a-c & R16a-c). Shannon will these be OK or do I need to make an order for the 2.7K's.

The 3.3ks would be OK for NOS tubes, but you should go with the
2.7k's for the Sovteks.

Hi Tom; Thank you very much for that information, but it also brought up another question. If I wanted to use both tubes, NOS and Sovtek, could I split the difference and use 3.0K resistors.

My top plate has both 4 pin and 8 pin sockets, did not know about using different resistors, my old parts list has 3.3K.

You could go with the 3.3k's and switch in a trimmer resistor in
parallel to bring it down to 900 ohms. To my ear, the Sovtek's
sounded pretty good with the 3.3k's anyway. The distortion does
come down some when they get driven harder.

I concur with Tom. My listening tests with the Sovtek were with 3.3ks, and I loved'em. I think anywhere in that ballpark will be fine.

I ended up paralleling in a 4.7K. 3SW WW resistor, to get it closer to 900 ohms, than later on, I got some 2.74K resistors from "Handmade" and installed them. I used up the last of my leftover 3.3Ks from an earlier Mouser Order - Originally I started out with 4 4/7K WW resistors in parallel, then found the 3.3Ks, then later on switched to 3 X 2.74K WWs.

Mouser was completely out of the 3.3K 3W wirewounds and won't have them in stock until August at the earliest, so they told me...
